A performance art installation that takes audiences on a journey of britians view of mental illness through time. Starting from the opening of Bethlehem Hospital to the current Bedlam Royal Hospital, this piece explores patient treatment, public opinion, and the evolution of diagnosis.
With interactive elements, audiences are invited to study the performance art as a live museum or bravely enter the art work and become a patient. Those who enter, experience treatment from our doctors, receive a diagnosis, and listen to poignant and powerful poetry.
Around the performance art is plenty to keep audiences in engaged, including real and date photographs, chronological fact sheets, and performances from our actors.
